I LOVE this cot!!!! A SUPER choice for solidifying place training with a pup 'cos it is raised and has clear boundaries. It is impossible to chew - the mat is fitted into slots carved into the PVC frame so that there is no way for the dog to chew it. In fact, the company guarantees it against chewing or damage. It is a little pricey (ok, it is expensive), but it will last forever -
I got the large one, so had to take it apart to transport it to Colorado 'cos our car was totally cram-packed, but putting it back together was no problem -in fact, I have taken it apart and put it back together numerous times - quite easy, but does require a screwdriver. The mat can be hosed down or machine washed.
If you let me know soon enough I can bring them with me to Colorado to the Wildrose Workshop if you are attending. Thank you!

If you could design the PERFECT PACK for your DAD what would it include???????

Here are some of my ideas.

1. A way to attach a place mat to dog pack. Either as a saddle pad but a way to attach so it doesn't slide out or strapped on.
2. Area clearly defined and designed for Glucagon. (Would also be cool if the padding provided some insulating properties from heat and cold)
3. Area for specific ID tag and health certificates that is good to carry.
4 SIde packs that can be reduced or expanded with the amount that you are carring. (Ruffwear stinks at this) It always looks bulky even when empty.
5. This one may be impossible.......but a way to tell when the weight is evenly distubuted
6. Packs should be removable from harness but the key pieces ID and glucagon STAY ON the harness.

So lets hear your ideas......you never know they might come to fruition!

Just got one of Rita's patches and it is really nice - very, very well done! I LOVE it. It is a 3.5 inch patch - very bold and bright and i LOVE it. the ONLY flaw is that it is a little too large for the spot i'd saved for it on JD's new Ruff wear webmaster harnass, in small. It'll be perfect on the pocket of the Ruff Wear Approach Pack or on a larger Webmaster. (altho i love it so much, i'm still trying to figure out how to rearrange JD's patches so that i can use it on his small webmaster harness!)

?how about riding in the car?
Since we get to have fun backgrounding some pups, we need to make a wise decision here. We did NOT train mr darcy to ride in some type of restraint when he was a puppy, which would have been the appropriate window. He is still and calm in the seat next to Abi has she drives and his alert is clear without interfering with her driving. We are thankful.
BUT, a sudden stop could send a dog propelling like a projectile thru the windshield - or into the driver, which could be quite serious for both dog and handler, obviously.
There is a type of harness the which the seat belt runs which allow the dog to be restrained. I'm thinking that I need to get one of these for training purposes for any puppy that comes thru my home. Better safe than sorry.
?what do y'all do??? are other dogs restrained in the car? if you use one, can you post your experience and a equipment that you use?

abi uses a "do it all leather dog leash" from LDS LEATHER
this is the best leash. she can 'wear it' 'hands-free' , over her shoulder. it is so versatile - clips on both ends of the leash and plenty of 'o-rings' to clip to, so that it can become various legnths . . to be worn over the shoulder or around waist ( i don't suggest either of these unless your dog has a nice heel - ha ha)
the leather is top quality and we have always received the best service. You can specify the type leather, the weight of the leather, the legnth and the style clip. Ours have always arrived very timely.
small disclaimer: when i was attempting to create a "link' for this on the (still under construction) 'links' page, I did a quick search "LDS LEATHER and COMPLAINTS", and i was dismayed to see a number of consumer complaints. sooo, i wont' put a 'link' on the page (yet to be published - <big sigh>) but, since i have ordered from them several times and never had anything but the best service, i thought i'd mention it here.
also, they are quite pricey, so if your dog is a chewer, i really don't advise it at all!

if anyone uses this company, please let us know how your service is . . .

Abi recently received a super gift . . .a new pack for Mr Darcy. WE LOVE IT.
The "Approach Pack" has a 5-point adjustable harness, so it stays positioned much much better than the others we have tried. also, the straps are padded - and Mr Darcy says that it is much more comfortable.
the pack is much sturdier/ made much better than the pack she had previously been using (by outward hound) . . .I've linked to it here so that you can read more about it - we love it.

Michelle I bought a vest just like the one Ann provided only red. It was from agreendog.com, right now I don't need Cooper to carry anything but the bags, his water dish and his paperwork. They were less than $18. I may order a pack like Alans closer to football season so I don't have to carry my purse. Keep us posted if you find any vests, I ordered patches on e-bay if you need one I ordered 4 or 5 by mistake, I'm not so good at computer ordering. 8-)
